Re: any ideas anyone
If you do a search in 1871 for James Stewart age 34 - 35 for Glasgow city there are 7 hits. One, however, JUMPS out at you being in Central District. James Stewart, 34, Widower, brushmaker, born in Ireland.
Since the wife died the year before I'm fairly sure this is him, particularly since he is in the same poorhouse as his other two children, Mary and George.

Searching for Keogh, Kelly, Fitzgerald, Riddell, Stewart, Wilson, McQuilkin, Lynch, Boyle, Cairney, Ross, King, McIlravey, McCurdy, Drennan and Woods (to name but a few).
Also looking for any information on Rathlin Island, County Antrim, Ireland.

well guess thats him , and born in Ireland , could be why i had such a time finding Joseph maybe they didnt even come to Scotland
and i cant find it in Ancestory , or get his birth in FHC , plenty Jane Harrisons , which could be the right age group, so assume the parents havent been married , and hes took his Fathers name when he was older](./images/smilies/brick-wall.gif)

Re: any ideas anyone
May have found him in the 1851 Census as a boarder at 86 Thistle Street, Gorbals Parish, he is shown as a 13 year old errand boy born in Ireland. There are three other Stewarts shown, but they are shown as being born in Galloway. Nothing obvious in the 1861 Census, there are a number of James Stewarts who are either boarders or lodgers but they are mainly miners.

Re James in 1871
For anyone trying to find him on Ancestry
He is indeed at the same poorhouse , Transcribed as James Shuart a "Brush Mkaer" . Now why didn't I find that ?
