Hi Jan,
If you do an address search, you'll see there are 1,583 people living at the City Parish Poorhouse on 322 Parliamentary Road. Obviously, they can't all be on the same census page  If you search for the children separately, you'll find the pages they are on. I believe the men were in a separate part of the poorhouse from the children.

Regards,
Sarah

oh thanks Sarah
been baby sitting , doggy sitting and now making dinner so havent been looking
the only way i am going to find a connection in the Family is to find the parents of James , and they didnt apprear to be in Scotland ,
wondering if James and Mary Ann have come here as a couple and her folks followed ,
the connection i am trying /hoping to make is , Joseph Stewart born poss 1800 - 1810 had a brother Charles who married a Elizabeth Renfrew and had a Son Charles born in Paisley 1833 , but like Joseph they are a name only and not to be found ,
Nae Luck :-

The post stating that Mary and George were in the SAME Poorhouse IS accurate (otherwise I wouldn't have posted it)

I know I've been away for a couple of years but I have checked out JustJans posts. There are a lot of Stewarts. And much Harvesting.

However, despite the MANY, MANY Stewarts, not one person has has asked for the LATEST, MOST MODERN, evidence.

JustJan PLEASE give me the most recent information that you have. I promise, from the given info, I WILL sort this out.

I've had a look at the Irish Stewarts. If these folk are YOURS, either Carrickfergus or County Down in Ireland is where you should be looking.
Searching for Keogh, Kelly, Fitzgerald, Riddell, Stewart, Wilson, McQuilkin, Lynch, Boyle, Cairney, Ross, King, McIlravey, McCurdy, Drennan and Woods (to name but a few).

Also looking for any information on Rathlin Island, County Antrim, Ireland.

hi andy
wasnt suggesting it was wrong , was just wondering where to find it myself there are a couple more children ,think a James and Edward he was 6 months when placed there , it is begining to look like its Irish Stewarts
will try start at the begining without it looking like a Novel
James Stewart born as Cameron 1867 was my Grandfather , his parents never married and he went to the poorhouse
on their records his parents were Eliz Cameron and Charles Stewart he died 1873 , he gave Charles ( a gardener) and Elizabeth m/s Stewart as his prents names both dead by 1873 , he also said he was born in Causewayside Paisley 1833 ,
trying to work out which Family he came from has never been proven, as no parents found
a Bible that was owned by my Grandad had in the back page a obit from 10th Feb 1950 Kimberly South Africa a bit about a George Harrison Stewart , we have found his folks were James and Mary Ann stewart m/s Martin ,
think you know this part , but i cant find his parents who he has given on marriage cert as Joseph and Jane m/s Harrison ,
only on one census in 1891 i found George living on his own in St Rollax area , and i am certain its him going by occupation ,
he got to SA in 1896 all in the newspaper clipping although hard to see , none of us here knew about any relations as we all were told my Granda was an only one , and never heard any mention of cousins , but again he died when i was very young and my Mother being in Service from 13/14 she wasnt at home very often , then when she came home from Canada she got married and moved else where , so could be shes missed out on a lot , or we have never taken it in , not sure if poorhouse records would give anything more on James parents , but i feel he and Mary Ann have maybe come over before they married as her folks dont seem to be on censes either till 1871 they are Irish as well ,
and living in hope i can find this Irish Joseph with a Brother Charles who came here to tie them all in , hoping you get my meaning , ](*,)
