According to the website www.clamjamfrie.com (a ceilidh band from , Kilbarchan and Lochwinnoch):

Clamjamfrie: a mixed bag (Scots)

Is this the meaning you go for Donna?

All the best,

Evening all,

The meaning I know of Clamjamfrie is a wee rabble of people. A group that might get up to no good.

I use a "wee dod" everyday in my house. My wean Archie has a "wee dod" of ketchup with everything. If I forget then I'm in big soapy wi him and he has a stooshie.

Here's another too, the Weegie equivalent of "bovvered" = "fashed".

Even yet whenever I get a compliment I want to say "Are you trying to be funny?" It just wasn't done in our house. That sounds bad but the humour was sarcastic and dead pan

One of my favourite songs on this subect, is Nancy Nicholson's "Listen tae the teacher".
Got a wee surprise when this site came in the day.

Hi Davie

I could only get the general drift of it but they were agreeing that Scots is diferent from English and auld Scots had as much in common with Sweden and Germany as England.
Good to have other smaller countries applauding our attempts to hang on to our 'mither tongue'

Hi Russell,
I have enjoyed perusing everyone’s posts on here.
It has made interesting reading.
Over the past few years, I have been putting old video tapes from Scotland onto DVD.
From the Music Hall, Theatre, Pantomimes, Scenic views, Street Singing, School playground songs etc.
Hope to have the first one ready by the end of this year.
Not for commercial use, I might add.
Purely furr everywans enjoyment.
Next time we huv a wee Getherin’, mind me tae bring a copy alang.
Or ye kin e-mail me an I’ll send a few, so that ye get the gist.

Hi Davie

Can we make it a wee soiree. I was disappointed to have to miss the last event.
Come Saturday I'll be dressed up in the 'formals' for the waddin and after that real retirement begins. 'Yippee'
Could we bring along the instruments and sing some o' them?
Coulter's Candy and a few Bothy ballads then finish off with the 'Freedom come all Ye'.
The DVDs are a great idea.
