Hello again Davie,
The Royal was owned by a young local couple but was up for sale at the time I visited . The young ladies Mum unvited us in and gave me the grand tour .She then showed me the staircase leading to the Hotel above (which now leads nowhere .) However on the pillar under the ivy is indeed a plaque for The Royal Hotel . Strangely enough the land the hotel once sat on belongs to another family and was also up for sale ( has been for many years I was told .(By the number of empty tinnies and chrisp packets it would appear to be a favorite drinking spot for the local youth ).
As for PM it is indeed PRIVATE .Even our resident IT members brilliant as they be cannot view a PM not sent to their inbox.
Happy Hunting,
HeatherH

Hi Davie,

Another place you might want to try is the Inverkip Hotel. I had the best wild salmon dinner there last year.

I was there with some cousins I found through genesreunited, and while we were eating we suddenly remembered that one of our relatives actually got married at the Inverkip Hotel back in 1874. Made our meal more memorable just knowing that we were in the same hotel that one of our long lost had gotten married in.

Davie,
Who told you to modify your post on 'THE LODGE"

This is just getting too stupid for words.

I think it would be better to post publicly objections instead of PM's and sign them and the we will all know what is going on.
There is never a public apology for misconstrued posts

Hello Wini,

I can answer your question. I asked Davie to modify his post.
Please try to understand this is a genealogy board, with a sprinkle of humor mixed in, of course.

Thank you Marilyn

I am sorry if I seem impolite I need to get back to some more research but at the moment I can't find the time for anything serious. this short time in the evening is making my day.I think of this as the Sociology side of Genealogy.

Davie is the "Saracen Head" still in the Gallowgate?

Wini Hello

We understand the Sociology side of this board, believe me. Lets face the fact, genealogy research can become a tad bit depressing at times  Did I say that????

So of course we want to make TalkingScot stand out in the world of Scottish genealogy research , with our friendly manner and we try to mix it up once in a while with our parties...

Our motto here on TS, is to moderate the board with "a light touch" but we also need to be aware of the language which may be misunderstood, so please pardon our attention regarding a few posts. Truly we're not all that bad...

After all without the dedication of all the moderators and ag members of TalkingScot, there would be no TalkingScot.

[soapbox] I need a raise.....ha

Marilyn

I do really appreciate what the moderators and AG do. I am amazed that any of you can find the time to donate to the site on a voluntary basis
and I would like to congratulate you all on the job you do.

I would put some smilies on this but have never worked out how to do it.
I think there was a post a while ago to tell us how to do it but I haven't had time to work it out.

Hi Wini
as fawr as ah'm aware, the Sarry Heid is still on the go.
The furthest ah get tae the Calton these days is the Empire Bar oan the Saltmarket.
And Marlilyn and a few others have ensured me that all PMs are indeed private.
It is verrrry dreich here in the Sou'side the day.
