Bedfordshire and Norfolk, England MI's

Post by speleobat2 » Fri Dec 14, 2007 2:55 am

Thought I might take a look at MI's in England, specifically London, to try to find my grandmother's brother William Munro so I went googling this afternoon. Found several hundred-- well, dozens-- of MI sites for England--the proverbial haystack, in fact! :o

This one looked well done so you might as well have the address. Google will have to take care of all the rest! :D

www.memorialinscriptions.org.uk/

Has 544 burial grounds in Bedfordshire and Norfolk and is searchable for free on the first level, pay per view after that.

Don't know what happened to that link. I went back to Google and tried it from there and got the same "Security permissions cannot be acquired" message.

Here's another link: http://www.sog.org.uk/index.shtml

This gets you to the Society of Genealogists website which has many links for things in England. Unfortunately, they seem to be working with findmypast.com so much of what they have is pay per view. However, at least the stuff is accessible!

There is also an announcement in their news about the English Civil Service proof of age (or birth) docuements now being available on findmypast.com. Could be worth checking out.
