Hi finding a death on OPR's, sorry not much hope there
. Only births, banns/marriages.
Is this the same Mary Dunn and James Morton who had at least two children James Morton b 29 Oct 1815 Muiravonside, Stirling and Mary Morton b 16 May 1818 Muiravonside, Stirling. You said she died young so a wild guess could be that she died during/after Mary's birth. I know this is probably not much help, but unfortunately deaths prior to 1855 are few and far between unless you can find them on church records.

Hello there,
If Stewie has the correct family, and she died in Muiravanside.. I'm sorry it doesn't look good. The OPR deaths do exist for Muiravonside (they don't for many places) but only three films covering:
1741-90
1783-97
1850-51
This topic may give you some ideas for other sources to try:

All the best,
Sarah

There is a stone in Muiravonside Churchyard to a Morton Family which may or may not be related to your Morton's.
The following MI is taken from the Pre-1855 East Stirlingshire MI Book (Mitchell & Mitchell)
James Morton died 12th August 185(3?) aged 61
Wife Isabella Stirling died (10th?) April 18(?)9 aged 55
James Morton Junior died (7th?) December 18(??) aged 22
John Morton died 22nd February 18(?)6 aged 21
Robert Morton died 28th September 1860 aged 24
Archibald Morton died 5th December 18(63?) aged 20
However, I photographed the stone a few years ago and I have a slightly different version of what the inscription says:
Erected in memory of JAMES MORTON who died 12th August 1852 aged 64 years
ISABELLA STIRLING his wife died 10th April 1869 aged 56 years
JAMES MORTON Junior died 27th December 18?? aged 22 years
JOHN MORTON died 22nd February 18?6 aged 21
ROBERT MORTON died 28th September 1860 aged 24 years
ARCHIBALD MORTON died 5th December 18?? Aged ….?
I obviously can't guarantee my interpretation is any more correct than the one in the book but if you send me your personal e-mail by PM, I'll forward the photos and you can make your own mind up about the dates. It's very easy to mistake 3's for 8's etc., and as it's an old stone and is quite eroded right down the centre of the front . . . . . .

MARY DUNN
Stewie thanks for that,My ancestor is James Rankine b 1816 Polmont but Iv never managed to find his birth. On his death cert it says his mother is Margaret and father is William,he died 1878,then in 1880 their is an amendment by his wife saying the parents were John Rankine and Mary Dunn,I noticed Mary Dunn married Morton 1815 and had her baby James two months later I was just wondering if perhaps that James Morton b late 1815 was in fact my James Rankine, and just maybe John Rankine died before he married Mary Dunn, and if Mary went on to have a family with Morton could she have died having one of them ,as I found Morton remarried at a later date,I wonder if oor James was then given to the Rankine s............awwwww I dont know .I cant sleep for dreaming up different scenarios in my quest to find my scarlet pimpernel who is stopping me from finishing my Rankine trail. Thanks for reading my rambles.
It's a beautiful day!
