Help with deciphering an occupation

Post by DorothyCoe » Tue Jul 15, 2008 3:19 pm

I've looked at the lists of occupations but can't interpret this one. I'm not even sure what the first letter is, which is tricky!
It's also on the death of Isobel's sister Elizabeth but the word journeyman instead of what I read as "master".
Can anyone make out the first part please?

thanks for your interest. I'm thinking that miller is more likely - could it be lintmiller? Is there such a thing?

Yes Dorothy I agree with Lint miller.

I'm sure there would have been - if you google Lint Mill you'll find out more about it.

Ah yes. It seems that according to the Rev James Simmie's account of Rothiemay, where most of the family thus far back have worked, there was a lint mill there! I wonder when the Rev was writing?
Thanks for your help Annette. :)

thanks Wilma. That link takes me to the holiday cottage website but I can't find a way of searching for the one you mention. Can you send me a more exact link please?
Thanks

Sorry Dorothy , on the home page of Cottages 4 You in the 3rd green box down on the right hand side there's a Box Search by Property Ref.

Put 3526 in there and the right place should come up.

The actual URL for the page is rather too long post.

I hope you get it this time.
