Help decipher Lithuanian name on Baptismal Certificate

Post by mcblondie » Tue Jul 22, 2008 10:49 pm

Hi everyone,

Well tonight was the big night. I went to St. Joseph's in Blantyre and got to go through the Baptismal Registars. :)

I have uploaded my uncles Baptismal Certificate in the hopes that you may be able to help me. The Godfather's name is showing as Joannas Plenus? Now i know that the Christian names were written in Latin and that the surnames were written as normal. When i look at it I see the surname as Plenus??? Possibly it should be Plenius, and the Joannas is John in Latin. Can you have a look and tell me what you all think? thanks.

I had a great night and it was such a priviledge going through these registers. I have been invited back to look further and for longer so I'm looking forward to that.

Hi McBlondie:

Glad it went well on your first visit. I think it is Plenus as well, or alternately, Pleuns.
