Hey Marilyn
I hope you don't mind that I've started this new thread and not named it "attention complaint department". You see I'm not a pessimist by nature. I don't see this thread or the other one that you just asked to be locked as needing to be branded "complaints". That just hangs a negative tag on it and makes it sounds like we're all just chronic complainers out here and not appreciative of how hard you guys work backstage and how we don't respect your decision making abilities. That is simply not true.
I have to tell you all that I am really saddened that TS has opted to restructure itself to be self limiting. Couldn't agree with Alan more that the forum for modern index queries is banquet space set aside for an event that will never happen. What does it exist for? You go through the motions of supporting genealogy research via SP and yet you refuse to support queries using all the online records of SP. Maybe this isn't a Scottish Genealogy website any longer. I mean you made it clear that the founding principles are gone.....maybe the founding name needs to be tweaked right along with them. Maybe it's time to come out of the backrooms and tell all the members just what it is that TalkingScot does want to do instead of constantly telling posters the things that you don't want to do.
You mentioned to me recently (albeit via PM) that this board needed a little "sparkle". You couldn't be more closer to the truth. I'll always firmly believe that the untapped potential of TS is like the light that has been hidden under the bucket. Only the Admin and Moderators have the ability to change all that. Your "sparkle" is well within your own grasp.
Best wishes
Jean
ps........the previous talk about the bots being blocked access to crawl the TS forums. Once again Alan is 100 percent correct. I don't know who implemented it but it surely does keep TS topics sequestered in TS airspace.
A thread to continue the locked discussion

Hi Jean,
This will be my only comment on this thread. Because you & I have known each other for almost 4 years now there were many pm's among ourselves and I respect your opinion, but I'm totally blown away by you sharing a comment of mine made in a pm. Yes, I did say the board lost a sparkle when some of its members moved onto new horizons, but what does that have to do with my moving a post of mine off the board? Please don't involve me with your personal agenda.
I would suggest that if you have any special concerns here on TS, that you contact the AG. TSAG@talkingscot.com
As Always

Hi Marilyn
Oh man....you are missing the mark. As you well know I stopped having a stake in TS when I stepped down from positions of responsibility so no there is no personal agenda. If I were a judgemental person I'd take your insinuations as a personal insult but thankfully my Myers-Briggs falls firmly into the perception category
Life is way too short and I still have way too many rellies to find! Besides I treasure friendships too much to take on such baggage.
Matter of fact this will be my last word here also as it's back to the PM facility for me. That is where I have been conducting my work as a longtime member of TS for some time now..matter of fact it was suggested I take some of my replies to that format if you might recollect. I couldn't leave this thread though without making certain my words were not being misunderstood which I suspect they were.
I wasn't attributing "sparkle" to people in particular nor did I understand it that way from our conversation. Sparkle is that magic that happens when someone you've never met before in your life comes forward with a helping hand to lend. It's people caring about people...that simple. Your thread had all the sparkle in the world Marilyn. It still does. Can you not see how filled with life it is??? Thankfully your putting it back into view for all members to read and appreciate exemplies that. But your sudden decision to yank it away and start apologizing for it dragged a pall of wrongness over it. But then you were apparently the only one who saw it that way....where were the other Moderators and Admin? Could it be that they were enjoying reading the discoveries and friendly chatter? I tuned in to read the latest on it the other night and it was gone!!!! How do you think that makes us feel out here? Just what exactly was so wrong about it? Does it pass the litmus test adopted by TS or not? We don't understand and so we're asking. I guess that is for you to know since it is your own family and yes you do get to choose what you want viewed and what not.
Best wishes
Jean

Please, please, please, everyone take a step backwards and take a deep breath. This is such a good, no, great forum, lets not let it go the way of the ScotlandsPeople forum.
Although you don’t see a large number of posts next to my name, that doesn’t mean I’m not an active member here. I’ve had so much help over the years from the likes of David Webster, John McCurdie (Sporran), Ian S., Andrew P., Muriel, just to name a few, lets not start throwing daggers at each other.
There will always be different opinions on how this (or any other) forum should be run, I think the main objective was and still is to help others that are involved with genealogy. Those of us that are not living in Scotland, need the help of people that are members of this group and hopefully those of us can reciprocate at some time with finding documents for you on this side of the pond.
We need people such as Marilyn Morning and JustJean to make this forum work (over 6,00 posting just between the two of you), I’m hoping that Andrew P. will either lock or remove this tread and lets get on with genealogy research.
Please re-read my first paragraph.
