I know it is the wrong time of the year to go wandering around cemeteries but if someone is going to/near Old Monkland Cemetery in Coatbridge I would appreciate a digital photo of my grandad’s gravestone and a note of the inscription if it is not clear.
I was in Scotland back in July, visited the cemetery and was upset to find my grandad’s stone had been vandalised, lying face down on the ground.
After I had the Lair certificate transferred into my name the North Lanarkshire Council agreed to pay for a new foundation and with my bank balance down nearly £300 I have just been informed by the local mason that the stone has been re-erected.
My grandad's stone is only 2-3 minutes from the main cemetery gates or 1 minute if entry is though the church gate as the stone is just behind the Parish Church. I have the photos I took in July which I can email to pinpoint the actual stone.
Regards
Sally

Hi Sally,
If you PM me the details, I'll take a photo for you on Saturday. I live nearby, but it's dark by the time I get home!
Best wishes
Brian
