Hiya
Could anyone with access to ancestary website please help me with one search - I believe my uncle may have died in 1999 in England (can send pm with details if required). Does ancestary give you the person's mothers and fathers name ?
Any help would be very much appreicated as my father would like to know what has happened to his brother ( as happens they lost touch after my granny died)

Ancestry does not give any parent details.
You could try searching Free BMD for the death and then sending for the cert.

Hello Diane
This site will tell you what you can expect to find on any English certificate
http://www.dixons.clara.co.uk/Certificates/deaths.htm unfortunately they are not as helpful as Scottish ones !

From 1984 the GRO (England/Wales) death index is fully indexed by name. The date of birth is included on the index, so if you know a birth date and approx death year it is relatively easy to find the required death (even if the location is not known).
FreeBDM is only up to about 1930 for deaths at the moment - an amazing achievement but a while yet to get to 1999 (Not sure how far they intend to go, the original goal was to get to 1915 and that is well past)
If you don't have access to ancestry or other sites with the index, you can order from GRO without quoting the index - it is cheaper if you have the index reference.
