Hi everyone,
Does anyone have a lair plan for Wrangholm? I'm trying to find out whereabouts in the churchyard my relations were buried in 1908 and 1911 - I know from a CD at Motherwell Heritage Centre that the lair is No. 285 [New Ground], but I don't know where this is in relation to the church.
Any assistance appreciated!
Best wishes
Brian

Hi Brian, have you had a look at the Church and grave yard?
Judging from the aerial & bird's-eye photographs on multimap, there are precious few gravestones still there, so if they have a stone it'll not take long to find it!
Many cemeteries have the lair numbers marked on the gravestones so that could help you, once you are on the ground, so to speak.
The church can be contacted via thier website: http://www.wrangholmkirk.btik.com/p_Home.ikml

Hi Lesley and Wilma,
Lesley - the local authority is the next port of call, I just thought I'd chance my luck here first, as patience is not a virtue I've been blessed with in great quantity!
Wilma - I was there on Wednesday - this Spring weather is most conducive to getting strange looks while scrambling through graveyards! You're right that there are very few stones and it appears at first visit that none of them appear to be 'mine'. Most of the ones that are there are very worn.
There are a few small, doublesided stone lair markers, but these seem to stop in the high 100s. I suspect that 'new ground' is the large - almost unmarked - section nearest the main road to the right of the main gate.
I'll also try an email to the church itself.
Best wishes
Brian
