'Dumbarton' man? - 1855 gold miner's diary, Ballarat
Have just been reading an interesting article in today's newspaper about a Diary written by a Scottish gold miner, from Dumbarton. It seems that the entries go into great detail about his life in Ballarat, Australia. He also sent 3 months worth of diary entries back home to a 'Bob'. The article says, " Scots are being urged to go through their old family archives" in the hope that these entries turn up. The information about the diaries can be found at www.slv.vic.gov.au . In the search box enter: Ballarat Goldfields Diary.
