Mortcloth Records for Shotts

Post by WilmaM » Wed May 27, 2009 11:55 am

I just stumbled across this interesting site by accident:

http://www.shottshistorygroup.co.uk/

Somebody has transcribed the Mortcloth Rentals, Mortality Book and Parish Records from 1794 - 1855.

The records seem to cover a very wide area, not just Shotts itself, but Chapelhall, Newarthill, Carluke, Holytown, even Uddingston appears so evidently it was an extremely large parish.

Well worth a look if you've families from around that part.

Hi Wilma,

I think I only gave it a 'passing' mention in one of my posts so you wouldn't have found it easily....and I too wish I could find some of my lot mentioned. It's really a great site. :D
