Post by frances » Tue Jun 23, 2009 6:25 pm

Just to let everyone know that The Dower House, St. Margarets Park in Edinburgh - Headquarters of the Corstorphine Trust is having it's very own Homecoming Week beginning next Monday 29th June until Saturday 4th July.

The Dower House will be open to visitors from 10.00-16.00 Monday to Friday and 10.00-12.00 on the Saturday.

We have a small but well stocked museum and an archive room which is a must for anyone with Corstorphine connections . The newly conserved Corstorphine Friendly Society Banner will be on display.
There will also be an exhibition of people's reminiscenses of living in Corstorphine from both home and abroad plus a number of exhibits of family trees from people with Corstorphine ancestry.

We are having a number of other events throughout the week including guided walks around the historic village of Corstorphine finishing with a family ceilidh in The Old Parish Church Hall on the 4th July.

The coffee shop will be open all week.

Hi Frances,

Looked like an interesting week over there at The Dower House in Edinburgh. I'm sure it would have been a big success. :)

Regards,
Anne H

Ah, wish I could have got there.

And, Frances, I have to apologise for STILL not having written up the Johnstoun/Corstorphine story...

All best

No problem Jenny. The week went really well and all the events were fully booked.

The exhibition seemed to jog people's memories and we were amazed how much information on various events etc we were able to gather.

Hope you may be able to pay us a visit soon.
