Peterhead burials

Post by nelmit » Sat Aug 01, 2009 11:07 pm

Does anybody have access to Peterhead burials and could do a look up?

I think my gggrandfather George Murray must have died at sea (he was a Merchant Seaman and probably a whaler) but his death doesn't appear to be registered in Scotland so I've never been able to confirm his birth.

He married Mary Davidson in 1853 at Peterhead but doesn't appear on the 1861 census with the family. Their youngest child James was born in June 1866 and his father is given as dead on his birth entry.

Mary died in 1893. I'm hoping that she had a headstone and maybe George's details are on it.

Regards,
Annette

Try this site. I used it a long while back and can't remember if I was successful or not! Old middle age kicking in, I guess!
