McIllchonnells of |Comrie Perthshire.

Post by Jas » Mon Aug 31, 2009 4:53 pm

Has any one out there got any information what so ever regarding the McIllchonnels of Comrie. Perthshire, I have records of 39, McIllchonells from Family Search, one being Elizabeth McIllchonnell who married my ancestor John Comrie in the 17th Century. All the ones recorded seem to come from Comrie. Thankyou. regards. Jas.

Hi

Comrie churchyard has largely 1800 burials. No McIllchonells I'm afraid.

Hi Jas:

Have you looked on ScotlandsPeople in the Old Parish Records? http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

I wasn't able to find anything in 1600s, but there is a birth record for e*th McIllchonnel born in Comrie in 1698.

There are 3 banns or marriages for e*th McIllchonnel to John (no last name used) 1712 - 1800, but only one for the County of Perth. I didn't find anything using the surname Comrie.

It may be worth your while to check that site. Eventhough it is a pay-per-view site, it is reasonable, and there are not that many records for McIllchonnel.
