You’ve all seen plenty of post 1855 marriage certificates that includes the sentence “After Banns according to the forms of the Church of Scotland” or whatever. Well this nifty little book “The Scotch Minister’s Assistant”, printed way back in 1802, has a collection of forms for celebrating the ordinances of Marriage, baptism, etc.
So if you want to know what was said by them and to them when your honourable ancestors fronted up before The Man to be married, way back then, this book will give you a bit of an idea.

Hope that’s interesting,

P.S.
I don’t know why I bothered to post this. They seem to be about the same they were the last time I went to Church.
