LDS family search share genealogy
I shared my family tree some time ago but cannot say that I got much benefit. Most of what they have given me is what I had already passed on to them. I don't use LDS much now.

I think the idea is to be of benefit to others....but I have heard that if you discover an error in your own research there is no way to correct it.
Researching: Easton ( Renfrewshire, Dunbarton and Glasgow), Corr (Londonderry and Glasgow), Carson (Co. Down, Irvine, Ayrshire and Glasgow), Logan (Londonderry and Glasgow)

Hi MaddyMouse

It is up to you whether to post it. If you do, please show your sources, and document where your information came from. We can be a good example to others who post their things there. There is so much on the LDS website that is just taken from undocumented lines found here and there on the web. Then others who don't know better take the information to complete their own lines, and the errors are compounded all over the place.

Its good to get things out there and posted, to share with others, and distant relatives can research and fill in each other's lines, maybe figuring out the truth together. Not everyone can afford to download a certificate from Scotland's People. But if you have, show on your gedcom that you hold the certificate.

I have found great benefit from good research people have posted from Old Parish Records, etc. But I have also been sidetracked for ages hoping that some bogus information I found might have merit. It seems that some folks just want more names in their tree, not minding if it isn't even in the same forest. In the end, its like a big jigsaw puzzle!

Hope this helps a little and that I didn't step on any toes!
