Hi Jan,
Charles and Sarah were in the 1851 census living with son, Nielson Stewart, 28, born Ireland and his wife, Ann, 28, born Edinburgh . Nielson and Ann had Charles 5, Sarah 3 and John 1. There was another Charles Stewart, a nephew of Nielson, living with them. He was 13 and born Paisley. Is this any help? Both Charles senior and his wife, Sarah were born Ireland so that is a different ballgame for finding information.

Hi Jan,

In order to find children of a known couple on the IGI/FHC http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/ ... _form=true you have to do the following...
1. Click on "Search Records"
2. Click on "Advanced Search"
3. Click on "International International Genealogical Index
4. At the far right enter the name of the father and mother
5. Click on "British Isles" in the Region area
6. Click "Search"

There are 163 entries that come up for Father Charles, Surname Stewart and a Mother Sarah...you'll just have to wade through all of them and see if you come up with anything useful.

Regards,
Anne H

Jan
Do not enter Stewart as the mother's surname. Leave it blank.
According to your first post, you do not know her surname.

Best wishes

cant seem to get them in IGI , or narrow it down ,
but found Neilson and Ann McArthur married in Paisley1843 , had a child Neilson 1857 Glasgow other 2 think its says Enland ,
only getting one death for a neilson and thats a neilson matthew died a baby in 1875 so poss this couples Grandson ,
cant get a death for Neilson Sen which should be 1823 ish in Ireland
thought if i got his birth might tell which Sarah is his Mother ,

As far as I'm aware there are no online sources for information such as this. Statutory registration for everyone began in Ireland in 1864.

To ascertain whether parish records exist you would really need to know which actual parish he was likely to have lived in in Ireland, and whether he was RC or Church of Ireland or another church such as Presbyterian, Baptist etc. You could then order up the microfilm, if there are records, from your local LDS.

Best wishes
