any ideas anyone

Post by Justjan » Mon Oct 26, 2009 4:11 pm

i have tried all roads to find this couple , seems again they dont exist . not sure why i keep getting this
would think the Fathers name is right , as first Grandsons (Twins) one was named after each father ,
i have tried putting a J for Harrison , no marriage to a Stewart showing , tried naming her Jean , Jessie , Janet , nothing ,
thought could it be her middle name shes been known by , but nothing on Harrison / Stewart
been at this weeks now , nothing in SP and all i know is they were dead by 1863 , be grateful for any ideas

1) Have you tried finding the family in the various census returns? Eve if they died by 1863, they may sow up in 1841, 1851, or even 1863.

2) 1) Where did the family live? Lots of Joesph Stewart when I did a quick 1851 census look at Ancestry.

3) If they were deceased by 1863, there's a good chance they married before 1855, so I'd guess they were either in a parish with incomplete/not surviving records or they didn't belong to the established church -- either one of which could lead to them not being listed in the OPRs. Do you have evidence that they belonged to another church?

Have you tried variants of Stewart e.g. Stuart/Steuart?

tried all of uk from 1841 and under different spellings , thought i had them , in England but the woman was a Elizabeth Lines
but father Jospeh and i had 3 sons George , Jospeh and James , the 2 others were witnesses , sort of thought possibly bros ,
so looked for Joseph with 3 sons of these names , only the Mother was wrong , but Joseph died i think 1861 and Eliz 1862
That Joseph was born in Norfolk and his Mother was a Hannah Harrison , so i am way off there
i dont have any adds for them except the marriage for James in 1863 and thats St James Road Glasgow , but certain that was Mary Anns folks add as well ,
i seem to have 3 James Stewarts and Mary Ann Martins , just different areas , ](*,)

Perhaps Jane was Jane Harris? Or did you try that one already?

Her surname may well have been Harrison, but the marriage record may say Harris as an error...it might have been what the registrar heard.
