TalkingScot downtime

Post by AndrewP » Wed Mar 03, 2010 7:42 am

Hi All,

As some of you will have noticed, the TalkingScot forum was offline from about 10pm GMT 02-March to about 6am GMT 03-March. This was due to essential maintenance by our hosts. All is back to normal now.

All the best,

AndrewP

My heart sank when I tried to log on around midnight with no joy but since every other site was O.K. I realised it must be our provider having problems or doing maintenance.
Do they not realise that we genealogists don't keep the same daylight hours - or indeed any regular hours at all :D
When a brick wall falls and we see the other side at last we must step over to the other side regardless of the time of day or night

Thanks Andrew.

Especially those of us who are of an age where sleep often either does not come easily or only lasts for a few hours  and I had to resort to some ironing in the early hours!

Well, the telly was rubbish, Ancestry was too slow to bother with and you can only play Solitaire for so long before you go cross-eyed.

P.S. The iron is lying down in a dark room recovering from shock

But I thought that's what genealogy magazines were for - for those rare moments when you can't acutally get online to do it #-o

I always wonder what time you midnight forumers (is that a word?) get up in the morning.
I get up at 5.30am and if I was up in the wee small hours I would be a wreck.

Hi Wini

I'm a Midnight Marauder.
If I head for kip about two a.m. I'm usually up around 8.00 a.m. but these mornings I've been pulling the duvet tight round my shoulders and hibernating till 8.30 because the reflection off the ceiling tells me that there is still too much snow on the ground. Once the sun is up a little then I can face the prospect of the great outdoors (suitably fortified by breakfast of course :!: )

Know the routine, Russell.

Seems no matter what time I go to bed, I still wake up between 7:30 and 8:00am, (if I've actually managed to get to sleep at all, that is). Once in a blue moon I have turned over and nodded off again, but rarely for more than 30 minutes.

Every night I optimistically set the teasmade alarm for 9:30am. It has never managed to make the tea on its own. I always end up switching it to "Tea Now" before it gets the chance
