Anyone else have email problems with Scotlandspeople?

Post by jillwelsh » Fri Aug 13, 2010 5:36 pm

I am having a frustrating problem accessing my account with Scotlandspeople and wonder if anyone else has had the same problem.

I haven't been doing much genealogy lately but when some new info (and more time) came to light I went on and requested a new password.

The pasword is reset and sent (according to SP) however it never arrives in my inbox - I have made the "unmanned@scotlandspeople.gov.uk" a trusted address with my ISP - have written to the email hosts who are not blocking the address (I receive their occasional newsletters from this address anyway).

I have checked the webmail account in case the password messages are there - nothing.
I have checked the spam folders - nothing.

Does anyone have any bright ideas that I can try? I am using Macmail on my laptop; webmail from Fasthosts; and a Blackberry to receive all my emails (which are all on the one address). I have about 7 years worth of certificates and info stored on my account but no way of accessing it as they have resent the password several times now.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Jill

This doesn't help but it sounds as if you are having the opposite problem from the one I still have from time to time. See this thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=14220

I would guess that, unless your user name is your e-mail or something equally distinctive rather than just a forename, your reminders are being sent to someone else (not me this time!). I don't know what the answer is as the SP site gives only e-mail contact details ](*,)

Perhaps someone on the User Group can suggest a solution, or will at least know where to write or phone.

I'll be interested to see how this is resolved. Good luck.
