Re: Gordon Highlanders POW Servce Records WWW11
Hello Liz,
WW2 British Army service records are still held by Ministry of Defence. Here’s info about applying for the records of a deceased serviceman. http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/About ... sonnel.htm
The information is available free to the serviceman, and if deceased, his widow. Fully available at a price to immediate next of kin and degree of access to others depends on date of death. Proof of death is required, and possibly also of kinship.
A bit more here from the Army Personnel Centre. http://www.army.mod.uk/welfare-support/family/6980.aspx
All the best,
Alan
