I couldn't resist!
Godfray Frederick Beamesdover is sharing a multiple lair with some of my relatives in St. Peters/Spital cemetery in Aberdeen. He died March 29, 1871. With that name, you would think that he would pop right up in a search, but I haven't found him yet anywhere!

Hi Carol
When I saw the name my first thought was 'how many mistranscriptions is he hiding behind

'
And I thought that my Nathaniel Daniel Isaac Oman was a bit over the top

Hi Carol,

After extensive playing with the search function on SP, I conclude that his name on the death cert was spelled
Bemisdourfer and that he was 53 years old. In addition, he did not die in Aberdeen or any place close by… Who was this guy?
Cheers,
Sarah
P.S. He died in Brechin, Angus

He went and died a week before the census.

He was 52, rather than 53 as he is indexed.
All the best,
AndrewP

Hi all,
I knew that TS members would find him out! I don't have clue who he was other than that he is buried in the same lair as some of my relatives in St. Peters/Spital cemetery!
A traveling business man perhaps? Don't know why he wasn't buried in Brechin, Angus if that's the case because there certainly is a cemetery there.

If so, he came from a country that does not yet have records online

I have found several pockets of Bemisderfers (spelled like that) in Ohio and Pennsylvania, but so far none of them have names and birth dates that work
Regards,
Sarah

Hold on, I think we may have more here. The billiard marker who died in 1871 in Brechin was registered as Johaness Godfred Bemisdourfer on his death certificate. In Aberdeen in 1894 the death was registered of Josephine Frederick, formerly Biemersdorfer, widow of Gottfried Frederick, formerly Biemersdorfer, photographer. Do the surnames Porte, Huber or Castrich come into your research, or other residents of that lair? If so, these death certificates hold more information for you.
The informant on the 1871 death certificate was his employer. He didn't know the deceased's mother's maiden surname. The informant's address was Commercial Hotel, Brechin.
All the best,
AndrewP
