This weekend I'm starting the long trek north!
I'll be in Edinburgh for two days next week and am booked into the ScotlandsPeople Centre on Tuesday 13th. If anyone else is visiting then I'd love to be able to put a face to a name

I's a long trek so lets hope its a very fruitful one.
If anyone else is going to be there perhaps they should PM to make arrangements to meet up.
I organised a genealogy day a year or two ago here in Kilbarchan and used our logo to make up name badges. They worked quite well. (hint hint they might catch other folks attention too and lead them our way. We're not short of members but 'we urr ra people' ) Our motto should be "We can do it " going by some of the recent successes.

Badges are an excellent idea (one I think that has been mentioned before?) but alas I fear my artistic talent is not up to that task!

No artistic talent was involved... just the logo from the top of this page copied on the computer and printed out, then a name put in the lower right corner, I think. I still have mine somewhere...

There and back safely, and achieved some success, including some which was unexpected!
I wore my ScotlandsPeople badge throughout my 2 days at the centre and at NAS, but there was no response.
Very disappointing.

That was disappointing Meg although I had the same result when I visited the Mitchell Library a couple of times.
It dawned on me that many TS members live in far away places with strange sounding names (I feel a song coming on here ) I wish more folk would add their location to their log on information though. It helps when making suggestions of where they might visit or contact for family information.

It would have been rather nice to have been able to have had a (quick ) cup of coffee with someone as I don't know anyone up there (apart from my son at Edinburgh uni).

It was good to hear that your trip was successful (I am envious) & I would have loved to join you - not only for the coffee, but to ask question after question about Dorset - the english heritage area of my mother (who also provides all of my Scottish heritage).
