Dear All,
As you will no doubt be well aware, the TalkingScot forum has been suffering technical difficulties for the last few weeks. We are now in the midst of moving the forum. Part of that means we will be moving to the current version of the forum software. For most purposes that will go un-noticed. There are a few subtle changes, but none that will affect your day to day use of the forum. There are a few things to note:
- This is the one negative point. We will lose all of the PMs that are on the current forum. So if you have information there that you need, now is the time to copy that onto your own computer so that you won't lose any information that is in your PMs. The new forum will have the PM system available to use as normal, but will start with empty mailboxes for all. As much as it is inconvenient for some people to lose these PMs, I believe that it is a small price to pay for getting the forum up and running again.
- When we are ready to make the move, the forum will be locked so that the data is at a standstill when it is downloaded from here to upload to the new forum. As soon as the move is made, the forum will be unlocked and made available for normal use.
- On arrival at the 'new' TalkingScot we hope to have some new features. They will be announced as and when they happen.
We thank you for your patience during these times, but hopefully all will be back to normal very soon.
AndrewP,
for the TalkingScot Admin Group

Thanks for the 'Heads Up' Andrew.
I've just trawled through all my PMs and copied the ones with important information onto a word doc.
I'd advise everyone to do the same as I found a snippet or 2 that may now be relevant.
Looking forward to an all singing & dancing TS

Wilma

Thanks from me too, Andrew!
Just copied the important ones...several pages actually.
Hope this means that very soon you might be able to relax a little after all the hard work and time you've put in.
Don't know what we'd have done without you!

Glad to hear that there is going to be a solution to all this trouble with members logging in but really sad it has to involve losing PM's

. If members can't log in they can't very well save their PM's can they?

I just took a look through mine and it was like strolling down memory lane.....I've saved a few messages but it's time to let the most of them go I guess. Glad I at least had the chance to say goodbye to them! Good luck with the data move and all that it entails. I look forward to seeing the new features.
Best wishes
Jean

Hi Andrew
I'm sure most everyone has acted on their PMs - a good spring clean idea to start with a clean slate - many thanks for all your work

=D> Keep up the good work everyone, much appreciated.
I'm convinced this forum will enable me to knock down my brick wall one of these days so I can dig deeper into my lovely Scottish roots!
