Ancestry help

Post by crayspond » Sat Mar 10, 2012 12:04 am

I wonder if anyone who has access to Ancestry worldwide can help me out. When they recently had the free US census i found a possible relation and copied the link - however when i try to go back on it it says Ancestry only allow the link to be viewed for 11 days. I was sure i had printed it but obviously i have'nt !!
It was a Robert Hardie and family with a son called Alexander - it was the 1930 census in Philadelphia. I had a letter from a 2nd cousin which could clarify this information.

Thanks,
Ailsa

Thanks Sarah - you came up trumps again with the US connections in my family!
I had been told that a brother of my grandfather had went to the US and thought i would look when the ancestry free trial went up. I recently contacted my grandfather's niece and she said that although she didn't know anything about them she knew he had 2 children (same names as the children on the census :) ).
I will be able to go back to her now and fill in some of the blanks!
Many thanks again,

Ailsa

Hi Ailsa,

Glad Sarah responded to your request.

Just in case you are looking for anybody else https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XH47-WH7 has the 1930 US census transcribed and you can view it for free.

Regards,
Annette

If FamilySearch doesn’t have the image you can get it for free from the Internet Archive. I believe they have images for all US Census years to 1930.

Take a note of the Sheet Number and Letter 38B, Roll No. 2132, and the Image Number 00789 from the FamilySearch record. Then go to the Internet Archive and search for 1930 Census Philadelphia 2132 and you’ll get this http://www.archive.org/search.php?query ... hia%202132

Proceed on to read it online and use the bottom slider to get to about Page 789. You’ll find the sheet number in the top right hand corner and may have to click or drag a few pages to Sheet 38B. Zoom in to an easily readable size, right click the image, and save as. http://www.archive.org/stream/fifteenth ... 3/mode/2up

Hope that helps,
Alan
