Need a wee bit of help trying to locate her death.
She was born Ann Jane McCann, Ireland in 1857 (I have her in 1901 and 1911 Ireland) and I thought she would have died there but her son's poorhouse application made in 1921 says she was living in New York.
Sure enough I found her on a passenger list going there in 1921 (A J McVeigh) although she had shaved a few years off her age. She appears to be travelling with a female, K Quinn age 18 (granddaughter???).
I can't find her in the 1930 US census but hopefully somebody else can and if she died there are there online indexes? I have some credits for FMP if that's any use for searching.
Regards,
Annette

Hi Annette,
I assume you have looked at the passenger departures from the U.K. On the arrivals list in New York her name is spelled out in full. She appears to be going to her son-in-law Lewis Martin at 221 East 23rd St, New York. Kathleen says she is going to her Aunt, Mrs. L. Martin at the same address
I'll keep looking for further trace of her...

Re: Ann Jane McCann/McVeigh
Hi again,
Unfortunately, the online death indexes vary quite a bit from state to state. There is no index that covers the whole U.S. except the Social Security Death Index which would be too late for her anyway. So, you'd need to have a pretty good idea of where she died. To your knowledge, did she have other children in the U.S. who she might be living with? What was the name of the daughter who married Lewis Martin? Any details you have that might help narrow down the possibilities would be helpful.
All the best,
Sarah

Ah, found them arriving back in Ireland in 1931 on the Tuscania from New York. Ann says she is going to stay in Ireland, but Kathleen probably intends to go back to the U.S. They are going to 3 Glenmahon Avenue, Portadown.
It looks like Ann Jane probably died in Ireland, then, although it doesn't explain why she can't be found in 1930
Best wishes,
Sarah

Whew! Finally found them all in 1930 on a tip from Kathleen's arrival record back into the U.S. in 1934. They were in Orangetown, Rockland county, New York:
Louis & Anna Martin, their 3 children, Anna J McLeigh, mother and three Quinns: Kathleen and two brothers.
Sarah
P.S. Kathleen was transcribed as "Rethlen Zuma"
and Ann's surname was "Mcleigh"

I'm quite sure you would have found it all if you had been home bored on a rainy day in southern France instead of being stuck at work in Scotland
