Hello Anniespangles,
Can you tell us where the old folks home was and about when and where Agnes was born?

All the best,
Sarah

Hi It was willox park old folks home in Dumbarton and the Agnes I would like her to be was born April 14th 1899 in Dumarton to Mary Jane and David Sweeney (probably brother and sister in law?)Iam thinking its not fitting but I would still like to know who Agnes McGory was and how she fits in?Thanks.

Hi Annie,

I don't see any likely candidates on ScotlandsPeople, looking for anyone in any year with surnames M*r*r* (to cover many spelling variations) and Sween* (to cover options there too). That search produces eight results, none of which would calculate to a birth year anywhere near 1899, and none called Agnes (or anything that looks like any variation of Agnes).

All the best,

AndrewP

There is a McGrorry male married to an Agnes Reynolds at Dunbartonshire in 1939. Would that fit? A death search indicates she was born in 1902.

I did a search on SP and there is an Agnes Reynolds born in 1901 in Dumbarton, Dunbarton.

Sorry I didn't have enough credits to actually look at the document.

I had credits so I had a look:

Agnes Reynolds born October 3 1901 at Dumbarton to John Reynolds (Shipyard labourer) and Mary Reynolds Ms. Sweeney who stated they were married October 23 1897 Dumbarton. Address was 13 Clyde Street Dumbarton.

Nice one Nina
Looks like it is the correct Agnes.
Fits in with the mix-up of names at the beginning of the topic.
