Looking for any information on an accident in Glasgow 1884
The man concerned - Charles Beattie (aged 54) - was an "iron drilling machine man" who died in the Western Infirmary Glasgow after an accident which fractured his skull. Neither the death certificate nor the RCE of the enquiry (6 Oct 1884) said where he worked. He lived at 48 McLean Street, Plantation & died 8.45am 21 September 1884

Re: Accident Death
Hi Trish,
I don't have time at the moment to have a browse but you could try The Glasgow Herald to see if there was a story in the newspaper http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=G ... page&hl=en
Regards,
Annette

Re: Accident Death
Hello Trish,
I haven’t trawled Google’s Glasgow Herald version but I’ve had a good search of the Library 19C newspapers and haven’t found a report of this incident.
All the best,
Alan

Re: Accident Death
Annette - thank you for the link - I've browsed 5 days so far - no joy - not sure when was the accident as neither document shows - but perhaps industrial accidents weren't always reported??
Thanks Alan for checking
