If anyone has any general pointers on how to search in Australia, feel free to post here, but any personal information should be sent to utrecht003 via private message, since this person may well be still living.
Best wishes,
Sarah

If you search the Ryerson Index for the mother, Jean, you’ll find there was a death notice in the Newcastle Herald with about the right age. If that’s her the information in the notice may advance you a couple of decades from 1980. See also the “locating a notice” link at the left. http://www.ryersonindex.org/dpsindex.htm
The Newcastle Library local studies section has microfilm copies of the Newcastle Herald. If you contact them, and quote the publication date from the Ryerson, they may be able to supply you with a copy. Maybe going via the “Ask a Librarian” link would be the way to do it. It would probably be a good idea to mention your location etc. http://www.newcastle.nsw.gov.au/service ... al_studies
Failing that you could try the “last resort” Ryerson lookup thing.
There was a Probate notice for Stanley in the SMH. http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=7Z ... %2C3230896
Hope that helps,
Alan
