Two of my relatives died at the tender age of 3 days and 5 days. I can get their death certs on SP, but no sign of their
birth certs. Does this mean that as they only lived a few days that it was not necessary to register the births ? Has anyone
came across this before ?

Re: No birth certs
Hi Shortfuse,
I take it you are talking about 1855 or more recent. If so, then yes, there should be matching birth certificates. So long as a birth is of a live child, then a birth and death certificate should exist.
In my family tree research, I have a number of births and deaths, where life was only for a few days; five of them where the lifespan was hours rather than days; and one at 30 minutes.
All the best,
AndrewP
