Popping in and out

Post by trish58 » Tue Nov 05, 2013 1:12 pm

Hi folks, I have been popping in and out of the forum over the past year just to see what is new, the reason for this is that I have been caring for my wonderful Mum who I was able to keep at home through her final days, she passed away on the 9 Oct at home with her loving family around her, the saddest day of my life, how I loved this lady.....She was the Matriarch, 6 children, 17 grand children and 34 Great children, 1 Gr Great Grand child, number 2 expected next year. She was 93 & would have been 94 on the 18 Nov.

I have been with Mum for the past 26 years since my husband passed away in 1987, and we had so many many memories of trips around the world, up untill Jan 2013.
Her death certificate states cause of death "Due to old age" which is lovely.

For all of you out all I can say is please cherish your parents whilst the are with you, as you won't get the chance again.

I can go on with my life (In time) without any regrets, knowing that I did everything I could have done. Many people don't have the same oppotunity.

R.I.P. Mum will love you forever. O:)

Hi Trish
Thank you for including us in your loss. It is sad when the inevitable occurs but it makes it so much easier when you have so many happy memories to call on. My lasting memory is my Mother preparing to go out Scottish county dancing a fornight before her 96th birthday (a display for "the old folks") when she collapsed and died a week later. Having time to share family memories gives you lots to cherish.
Keep thinking the positive thoughts when emotion catches you out - as it will from time to time.

Hi Trish

Your Mother is very lucky to have you with her and to be surrounded with the love of her family returned to her as she gave to them.

Difficult days can be tempered with knowing you gave her all she needed. How lucky you are to have had your Mum for 93+ years. Her memories will bring you joy and comfort.

No fear, that the first Gr Great Grand child, will not only know it's family history, but will have been a living participant of it.

O:)

Dear Trish. Sorry to hear about your mother's death. You are lucky to have had her with you for so long and she was very lucky to have such a lovely daughter to care about her. As you say we should cherish our parents while we have them and treasure our memories....you must have such lovely ones of your time together.

Such a sad time for you.
