A question about the Mitchell Library

Post by douglas » Tue Dec 10, 2013 6:33 pm

I've been to the ScotlandsPeople Centre in Edinburgh before but not the Family History part of the Mitchell. Will my ID and password that I used in Edinburgh transfer over to the Mitchell?

As far as I'm aware, no I.D. is required for the Registrar's at the Mitchell (the 'Scotland's People' equivalent) - I've never been asked for any.

Other departments - e.g. the Archives or using the microfilms for census returns or newspapers, again, no I.D. is necessary.

Never been to the Edinburgh facility but at the Mitchell you log in using a unique ID & password provided by the library. They now use the familiar Scotland's People search page so it is very like working from home. Your normal Scotland's People ID & password do not apply. As with all these centres do your preparation first and you can have a great day out.
