Frances Boyd who married James Inglis is my great-great grandmother. Her father was James (Bailie) Boyd (1724-1786), and her mother was Jean Boyd nee Shaw. Frances was their youngest child - their children were: Elizabeth 1753; Mary 1755; Anne 1757; Robert 1760; Hugh 1765; Jean 1767, and Frances 1769.
I'm curious to learn more about James and Jean Boyd, and their parents, siblings etc.
Every time I look, I seem to come up against one of those walls, which other contributors talk about. If anyone has links to this family and can give me more information, I'd be utterly delighted.

Familysearch.com shows a marriage of James Boyd to Jean Shaw on Feb 25, 1750 in New Monkland, Lanark and that record is viewable on ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk in the OPR marriages.
These old records do not have all the information that more modern records do, so it becomes more difficult to exactly identify individuals.
There is a likely christening record 1 June 1727 (among 38 others on FamilySearch) for James in New Monkland son of James Boyd and Janet Lindsay (m. 21 November 1726) who also have another son William Boyd Gender: Male Christening Date: 11 Jun 1732

James Boyd was born in 1724 on February 16 in Irvine, Ayr, Scotland. He married Jean Shaw in 1752 in Scotland.
He died on 18 February 1786. Jean died in 1776.
James parents are Robert Boyd and Elizabeth Anderson. Robert was born 1699 in Irvine, Scotland and died 1766 in old hall, Dunlop, Ayr, Scotland. He married Elizabeth on 14 February 1723, who was born 1704 in Irvine and died 29 November 1786.
I can't find any record of siblings for James.
Roberts parents were Robert Boyd born in 1674 in Ayr, Scotland and died in Dunlop. He married jean McClympart in 1698 in Irvine, Ayr, Scotland. Jean was born in 1677 in Irvine, Ayr, Scotland. They are my direct ancestor of 9 generations.
The children I have from James and Francis Inglis are James, Jean, Robert, Mary, Thomas, Francis Frances,
Francis Frances Inglis then married William Boyd and had William, Andrew, James, Francis, Thomas, Frank and Sarah.
James then married Elizabeth Spencer and had Frances, William, Sarah, Annie, Margaret, John, James, George and Edward.
Annie is my great grandmother. Hope this helps.
