Union Poorhouse DALKIETH.....

Has anyone got access to the records for the Union Poorhouse Dalkieth? I have death certificate for George Dunn died 06/08/1888. He is down as widower yet his wife and family were living in the Canongate. Don't understand why he was in the poorhouse.

I am looking for details of my great great grandfather who was in the Dalkeith Poorhouse in 1900.

I've not made any progress I'm afraid as I've been away from Family History for a while but thanks for the reminder of where I was !! I'm hoping to gather a list of things I need to check when I go through to Edinburgh but other stuff keeps getting in the way.

I made a trip through to Montrose the other day to look up some old newspapers but had no joy. It was just after the Tay Bridge Disaster so the event I was looking for didn't feature.

However it's another thing ticked off.
