My uncle Edward died in stratheden 1985.nr Cupar.FIFE.His wife at the time of death lived in the Mayview hotel in ST MONANS .FIFE.I am not sure i can think of modern burial sites in the EAST NEUK.Can any one point me in the right direction.David

Hi Lesley,I have a bit of a dilemma

If say you were 84 and you got a phone call out of the blue,claiming to be related to you and wanted to meet you.He says that he is the illegitimate son of your dead husbands,dead brother .Now bear in mind that you do not have a clue to this persons existance.......YEP ive found auntie Margo (Edwards wife) very much alive and with all her facilties intact.I was given her phone number and address last Friday but as yet have not contacted her.Just think of the wealth of information shell have,photos of my dad,granny maybe etc etc.Maybe you have had a similar dilemma in your searches.David

If she has indeed got all her faculties intact, then I'd write in the first instance rather then phoning.

Hi David, the lady that gave me the information on Margo told me that she's just out of hospital.My own mum is 80 and if she were to get a letter with the details i have she would not reply.Margo is my very last hope of getting vital information that i have wanted to know all my life! I don't want to regret it all being "too late".

If the lady in question is just out of hospital then I really think you need to be very careful indeed. She will not be feeling at her best at all. Perhaps you might even consider using an intermediary to make initial contact.
