Received in a newsletter...

The following misdemeanours are all attributable to members of an elite club in the UK whose numbers are limited to 636 members:

29 accused of spouse abuse
19 of writing bad cheques
7 arrested for fraud
117 directly or indirectly been bankrupted in at least two businesses
3 served a prison sentence for assault
71 cannot obtain a credit card due to bad credit
14 arrested on drug related charges
8 arrested for shoplifting
21 currently defendants in a court case
84 charged with drunk driving in the last year

The name of the club.........

The House of Commons

Why am I not surprised? Then we put our trust in these people to run the country on our behalf and follow their lead when they take us to war in the belief that what they tell us about the 'enemy' is true.

I'm not sure if they start out with good intentions or not, but I think the old adage is true - 'all power currupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely'.

On the other hand, someone has to do the job - unless we want a dictatorship - and I certainly wouldn't want to be a politician. So I guess we just have to be vigilant and try not to be taken in by all the spin.

Can't help wondering whether I'll ever be able to listen to any of them again without wondering what his or her "misdemeanour/s" were

Also from the Bible, Russell,

Titus 1

Greeting
1:1 Paul, a servant [1] of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the sake of the faith of God's elect and their knowledge of the truth, which accords with godliness, 2 in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began [2] 3 and at the proper time manifested in his word through the preaching with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Savior;

4 To Titus, my true child in a common faith:

Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

[prod]Qualifications for Elders
7 For an overseer, [4] as God's steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, 8 but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. 9 He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound [5] doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.

I see no reason why that should not apply to our "glorious leaders"

I was being a mite facetious :!:

But I would/do resent the word 'glorious' and leaders to be used in the same sentence  :D :D

something about "Let him cast the first stone".
OK folks, before we all rush to the rock pile to load up, perhaps it might be wise to check the facts ...

First, read this (and note the date!) ...

...but mainly, check which organisation is mentioned!

As was I  having long since learned that almost anything quoted from the Bible can be easily nullified by another quote from that same good book. I think that situation can also be said about the holy books of other religions. Keeps us on our toes!

Both words presented in inverted commas, by implication using a term they would attach to themselves, and certainly not one I would apply to them
