Westburn Cemetery

Post by ASGROOMBRIDGE » Tue Mar 20, 2007 2:13 pm

Does anyone know where Westburn Cemetery in Cambuslang is and is it open, I have a lair number for two of my Aunts who passed in 1919 and 1920. We are planning a trip north later in the year and I would dearly love to visit the grave. I know my grandmother alway's had a sadness about her and now I know why. She never returned to Glasgow after she left in the 1920's so for her sake I want to pay my respects.

Audrey

ps Do I have to leg it over a wall id it is closed (not dignified for a woman of my age) lol

Hi Audrey,

Westburn Cemetery
Old Mill Road
Cambuslang

Phone 01698 717818
Fax 01698 717821
Email william.stanley@southlanarkshire.gov.uk
Weblink www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk

Disabled access - Please contact the facility for further information

Opening times
April to September 8.00am-8.00pm
October to March 8.00am-4.30pm

They are still selling lairs so it seems it is still very much a "living" cemetery (I don't believe I said that  )

Aaagh! Just had a memory vision of us tucking our skirts into our knicker legs to go scrumping for apples. And it's too early for [5 cups]
