Galashiels Cemeteries.

Post by Cathy » Thu Aug 02, 2007 12:28 pm

Tripping to Scotland in a couple of weeks.

I'd like to visit my Aunt's grave. She died 1991 Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
Her residence was Hawthorn St., Galashiels.
Anyone any clues to which cemetery she may be in?

Hi Cathy
Also might be worth bearing in mind that as the death was very recent, she may have been cremated.
I'd try a local newspaper which may have a death intimation and also may mention the funeral arrangements which might help with your location.

Best wishes

Hi Cathy

The Southern Reporter and the Border Telegraph would be the newspapers to try.

In the case of cremation, she could have been cremated in Edinburgh and her ashes buried in a cemetery in Galashiels. You could contact Diane Munro at the Cemeteries Office in Galashiels: dmunro2ATscotborders.gov.uk , giving her as much information as possible. She is very helpful.

Best wishes
Catriona
