These records are not available on the Ancestry membership level that I have. I see the index page and recognise quite a number of my lot, so I plan to move up to the next level for these records (and whatever else I gain access to).

• Essentials membership (£95.99 yearly) - no access to these records
• Premium membership (£119.99 yearly)
• Worldwide membership (£179.99 yearly)
• All access membership (£224.99 yearly)

So, for an extra £24 each year, I can access these. I can justify that for the amount of names that I recognise there. My annual renewal is due in early September, so I will go for it.

So ancestry up to their usual misrepresentation - it’s only free access to certain uk and irish records. Probably says that in the fine print somewhere. I must admit my Worldwide subscription ends soon and I was wondering about cancelling and just using the ‘free weekends offers’, but guess I will have to keep the subscription going.

Would North Lanarkshire council have access to them in their libraries or archives somehow, could be worth finding out.

Looks like they are free to view at the North Lanarkshire Heritage Centre, High Road, Motherwell, ML1 3HU on Mondays to Fridays.

They are at the Heritage Centre in Motherwell and the archivist is extremely helpful.
They also have digitised many of the lair records of the cemeteries in their area and these are also available at the Heritage Centre
